Oranova Nachtmarket got selected for realization by the Dutch Film Fund / SCI (Immerse/Interact). As director / art director I’m working with a team of top tier animators, producers, composers, developers, voice actors etc to create this immersive experience. It’s gonna be experimental, transformative, and more than a little tittilating. Will update when I can share some more imagery!
My work wife Jantiene de Kroon & me got selected by the Filmfonds & the SCI (Immerse/Interact) to create a VR-demo for our project-in-progress ‘Oranova’. So I’ve been experimenting with VR, especially with Tilt Brush.
Thanks to a grant from the Amsterdam Fund for the Arts I was able to create a pilot for a motion comic (a mixture between comic and animation, working with movement, soundscapes & rudimentary interactivity).
Voor Cross Comix, een stripfestival in de Rotterdamse Schouwburg, cureerde ik een expositie rond een van Nietzsche’s aforismen. Na CCX reisde de expo, die helemaal in het donker plaatsvindt en waar je met een zaklampje de werken moet bekijken, ook nog naar Utrecht.
Winny de Jong en Arnoud Traa ontwikkelden tijdens Sandberg@Mediapark een educatief project over lichaamseigen drugs (hormonen die ons gevoelsleven bepalen). Ze vroegen mij om logo en character design te maken.
I was selected to participate in the Sandberg@Mediapark Masterclass, a collab between Sandberg Instituut (the postgraduate programme of the Gerrit Rietveld Academie Amsterdam) and the Nederlands Instituut voor Beeld en Geluid.
In the course of half a year, multi-disciplinary artists work on a pilot or demo around a specific theme, in this case ‘Technology as Religion’. Me and my creative partner Hasna el Maroudi developed a project dealing with the Google search engine bias (relating to gender & race).

I participated in an international exhibition around Women’s Day, called ‘Une femme, six humeurs’. Artists from all over the world were invited to choose a woman from their community and depict her expressing six different moods: joy, anguish, anger, disgust, sadness and surprise.
It’s a traveling exhibition, and currently on display in Bujumbura (Burundi)!
Op uitnodiging van de fantastische tekenaar Paul van der Steen nam ik deel aan de groep(-)sex(-)positie ‘Valse Blikken’.
Ik tekende een serie BDSM-beesten, o.a. geïnspireerd door de BDSM-roman Histoire d’O van Anne Desclos.
Ook mijn ‘Shmooppuku’ was te zien, en stond prominent op de flyer.
